
Lehigh Readies For Two League Matches This Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team is set for a pair of Patriot League matches this weekend as the Mountain Hawks will host Navy Saturday before visiting Colgate on Sunday. The Navy match is set for a 10 a.m. start Saturday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Lehigh will then travel to central New York to play Colgate Sunday at 2 p.m. at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse.

Lehigh has won its last two matches by 4-3 scores to improve to 4-5 on the season. Last Saturday the Mountain Hawks rallied in singles play to defeat Loyola 4-3. Trailing 3-1, Lehigh won the final three singles matches to capture their league opener. Junior Anushka Dania delivered the clinching win in a third set at No. 5 singles. Her sister Megha earned a win at No. 2 singles and earned honorable mention recognition from the Patriot League after going 2-0 in both singles and doubles action last week. Megha Dania had the clincher in a win over Quinnipiac over spring break.

Megha Dania leads Lehigh with a 6-2 singles record, while sophomore Hamsa Javagal owns five singles wins at the top flight. The Dania sisters and the team of Javagal and first-year Bella Peters both own 4-4 doubles records.

Navy opens its Patriot League schedule Saturday morning. The Midshipmen are 12-4 overall and are coming off a 3-0 spring break trip to Florida where they defeated UConn, South Dakota and Niagara.

Last year, Navy defeated Lehigh twice including the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament.

Colgate is 8-4 on the season and opened its league slate with a 4-0 win over Holy Cross last weekend. The Raiders will host Lafayette Friday night before Lehigh visits on Sunday.

Sunday's match marks a return to Colgate for Lehigh head coach Olivia Leavitt, who served as an assistant coach for the Raiders' men's and women's teams over the last two seasons.

Last year, Colgate edged Lehigh 4-3 in Bethlehem, snapping an eight-match Lehigh winning streak in the series.

Following this weekend's action, Lehigh will head to Lafayette for the annual rivalry match April 2 at 9 a.m.
