
Lehigh opens Patriot League Tournament against Bucknell Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team begins its quest for a league title Friday at 11 a.m. when the fifth-seeded Mountain Hawks face No. 4 Bucknell in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at Navy's Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks wrapped up the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and 4-4 mark against Patriot League opponents. Bucknell claimed the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament with an 11-8 overall record and 4-2 league mark. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to reach the Patriot League semifinals for the second-straight season.
Sophomores Christina Auyeung and Briana Maravich, along with junior Cassidy Cruz, have all picked up five singles victories against Patriot League opponents. Junior Jamie Campisi and sophomore Kirstin Godau have gone 4-4 in league singles action, while freshman Grace Lin has secured three league wins. The duo of Auyeung and Campisi have gone 5-3 at the top flight of doubles against Patriot League opponents. Lehigh's four Patriot League victories came against Loyola (6-1), Lafayette (7-0), Colgate (7-0) and Holy Cross (7-0).
Bucknell enters Friday's quarterfinals on a two-match win streak as the Bison earned 6-1 non-league victories over IUP and Bloomsburg Tuesday. Bucknell picked up league wins over Loyola (6-1), Colgate (4-0), Lehigh (7-0) and Lafayette (7-0) this season while the Bison dropped Patriot League matches to Army (5-2) and Navy (7-0).
The Bison earned a 7-0 victory over Lehigh in Lewisburg, Pa. in the teams' regular-season match on April 6. Bucknell won the doubles point and followed with all six singles victories, four of which were tight three-set battles.
The Patriot League Tournament opens Thursday with the 8-9 match between Lafayette and Holy Cross. The winner of that match will face two-time defending champion and top seed Boston University in Friday's first quarterfinal, beginning at 8 a.m. Lehigh and Bucknell will follow at 11 a.m. The other two quarterfinal matches will feature third-seeded host Navy and No. 6 Loyola at 2 p.m. and No. 2 Army vs. No. 7 Colgate at 5 p.m.
The Lehigh-Bucknell winner will face the winner of Boston University/8-9 in Saturday's first semifinal at 9 a.m. Sunday's championship match is set for 1 p.m.
