Mountain Hawks fall to Bucknell in Patriot League Quarterfinals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women's tennis team came out on the short end of a tightly-contested Patriot League Quarterfinal match against Bucknell as the fourth-seeded Bison earned a 4-2 win over the fifth-seeded Mountain Hawks Friday afternoon at Navy. Bucknell narrowly won the doubles point before picking up victories in the top three flights of singles to earn the win. Lehigh's season comes to a close at 9-9.
The duo of freshman Grace Lin and junior Cassidy Cruz opened the afternoon with a 6-2 win at the third flight of doubles. Bucknell's top doubles team was able to squeeze out a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Briana Maravich and Kirstin Godau then fell in a tight 7-6 (5) battle at the second flight as Bucknell was able to claim the doubles point.
Junior Jamie Campisi opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bucknell's Mishi Papich at the fifth flight to even the match at 1-1. Maravich fell 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 singles before sophomore Christina Auyeung dropped a 6-4, 6-3 match at the top flight and Bucknell took a 3-1 match lead.
Cruz fought back for a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory over Michele Urbinati at No. 4 singles to keep Lehigh alive, but Bucknell's Lisa Jouravleva clinched the match for the Bison with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Lin at the second flight.
Godau was in the middle of a 3-6, 6-4, 1-1 match against Stephanie Pino at No. 6 singles when the Bison clinched the 4-2 quarterfinal victory.
With no seniors on the 2015-16 squad, Lehigh's entire roster will return for next year's campaign.
