Noh Scores In 3-1 Loss To First-Place American

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh opened its final home weekend of the regular season with a Patriot League showdown against first-place American. Senior Madison Noh scored her second goal of the season, but American scored late in the first quarter and then twice in the third to claim a 3-1 victory Friday night at Ulrich Field.
The loss drops the Mountain Hawks to 3-12 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles remain undefeated in league play at 5-0 and move to 10-5 overall.
With two minutes remaining in the first period, American's Jordan Reicher scored on a feed from Alyssa Freeman to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. That advantage stood until halftime and was preserved by a pair of Lehigh defensive saves in the final seconds of the second quarter. Less than a week after setting Lehigh's career defensive saves record against VCU, senior Zoe Day picked up career defensive save No. 20. Then after an American penalty corner with no time on the clock, junior Annie Bibus came up with a defensive save to keep the game at 1-0 after 30 minutes.
Four minutes into the third quarter Ninthe Botman scored on a feed from Emilia Winkler to put American up 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Sarah Steinman scored with an assist from Kendall Varty to put the Eagles up 3-0.
Less than a minute after American went up 3-0, Noh ran onto a loose ball, dribbled into the circle and scored her second goal of the season to put the Mountain Hawks on the board.
Shots favored American 11-8 while corners were even at 4-4. Noh led Lehigh with two shots.
Junior Kate Burgess made three saves for Lehigh while Pauline Gineste made four stops for American.
The Mountain Hawks will host Rider in their home finale Sunday at noon. Lehigh will honor its six-member senior class prior to the game.
