Seniors Abbie Brown, Julia Gatelein and Lotte Smorenburg as well as junior Guujse Hogendoorn scored goals for the Mountain Hawks, who evened their record at 1-1.
Smorenburg put Lehigh on the board first with 6:10 remaining in the first quarter. The senior put the ball into the cage off a shot to the far post from sophomore Kiki Mes.
Ball State scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead in the second quarter, as Kerrianne McClay and Michaela Graney gave the Cardinals a brief lead. Lehigh was awarded a penalty stroke with just under five minutes remaining in the half. Gatelein capitalized on the stroke and tied the game at two heading into intermission.
The Cardinals took a 3-2 lead off a penalty corner in the third quarter. Hogendoorn responded with a goal on a Lehigh corner to even the score at the end of the third.
Early into the fourth quarter, Brown sealed the 4-3 win with a goal of her own on a rebound following a penalty corner.
Junior goalkeeper Jenny Canoni played all 60 minutes in net, recording three saves. Ball State goalkeeper Hannah Johnston made 11 saves.
The Mountain Hawks head to Lock Haven on Friday for a 7 p.m. start, followed by a trip to Hofstra on Sunday afternoon.
