BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball opens its 53rd season Monday afternoon in Los Angeles, California, against defending national champion No. 11 UCLA. The game will tip off at 2:30 p.m. ET and 11:30 a.m. PT from Pauley Pavilion and will be streamed live on BIG+.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a strong 2025-26 campaign, winning 17 games, including 11 in Patriot League play. Lehigh advanced to the Patriot League Championship game before receiving an at-large bid to the WNIT.
Head Coach Addie Micir returns nine players from last season's team, including four who averaged double figures in scoring. Sophomore Leia Edwards leads the returning group after averaging 13.6 points per game, followed by senior Whitney Lind at 13.3 points per game. Lind scored a career-high 26 points in Lehigh's season-opening win at Cincinnati. Junior Belle Bramer averaged 12.2 points per game and scored a career-high 24 points in the Patriot League Championship game. Senior Jessie Ozzauto also returns after averaging 12.5 points in 15 appearances.
Monday's game against UCLA will serve as a homecoming for sophomore Leia Edwards, who attended Sierra Canyon High School in California. Edwards earned Preseason All-Patriot League honors after a standout first-year season, when she scored in double figures in 12 contests and earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors four times. She was also named to the 2025-26 Patriot League All-Rookie Team.
Lehigh welcomes four first-years this season. Guard Olivia Fleming was a 1,000-point scorer and three-year captain in high school. Guard Mia Washington was a two-time All-Conference selection and McDonald's All-American nominee. Forward Ryann Jennings became her high school's all-time leading scorer, while forward Olivia Johnston competed for Australia's New South Wales national team in 2024.
The defending national champion UCLA Bruins finished last season 37-1, going a perfect 18-0 in Big Ten play. The Bruins won the Big Ten Tournament before capturing the national title with a 79-51 victory over South Carolina. UCLA returns just five players from its championship team, with seven newcomers joining the program through the transfer portal.
