BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior linebacker Tyler Ochojski has been named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. It's the second Defensive Player of the Week honor for Ochojski this season as the linebacker played a key role in Lehigh's dominant defensive effort in the Mountain Hawks' 41-0 win over Georgetown Saturday, the program's first shutout victory in 16 years.
Ochojski finished Saturday's game with six tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks, setting personal career-highs for tackles for loss and sacks. It was the first game with four tackles for loss and three sacks for a Lehigh player since Mike DeNucci accomplished the feat in October 2024 against Fordham.
With Ochojski leading the charge, the Mountain Hawks limited Georgetown to just 271 yards of total offense. Lehigh registered seven sacks, with Ochojski netting three, and the Mountain Hawks took the ball away twice, including a 26-yard interception return touchdown by junior Aidan Singleton.
Lehigh leads the Patriot League and ranks in the top 10 in the FCS in scoring defense, rushing defense, total defense and sacks. The Mountain Hawks have 33 sacks on the season including 18 over their last three games.
For the season, Ochojski is Lehigh's No. 3 tackler with 42 stops. He leads the Mountain Hawks with 7.5 sacks and ranks second on the team with 9.5 tackles for loss.
Lehigh improved to 9-0 with its win over Georgetown, the Mountain Hawks' first shutout since blanking the Hoyas 27-0 in 2009. The victory, along with several losses by top 10 teams, vaulted the Mountain Hawks to No. 4 in both the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll. It's the program's highest ranking since September 23, 2002 when Lehigh was also ranked fourth.
The Mountain Hawks are back at Goodman Stadium Saturday to host Holy Cross on Community Heroes Day and Youth Football Day with game time set for noon. Tickets can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-758-4263 during business hours.
