Lehigh Bested By Bucknell On Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After sweeping rival Lafayette on Friday, Lehigh volleyball returned to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall to welcome the Bucknell Bison on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks were bested by the Bison in three sets.
Lehigh (10-12, 4-9 PL) and Bucknell (9-13, 6-7 PL) took a minute to get going offensively, as both teams hit match-lows in the first set. The Bison swung .156 while the Mountain Hawks were limited to a -.029 hitting percentage. Bucknell began to pull away at the midway point of the frame and earned a 25-18 win in set one.
The Mountain Hawks held a lead through the first half of set two, culminating in their largest lead of 14-10. The Bison offense then began to pick it up, opening a 10-2 run to lead 20-16. Bucknell rode a .355 hitting percentage to a 25-19 second set victory. The Bison picked up where they left off in the third, hitting a match-best .387 in the period. Lehigh put up a fight, holding the lead three times in the set, but ultimately Bucknell won set three 25-19 to secure their sixth Patriot League win.
Junior Ufuoma Omene led the Mountain Hawks offensively with ten kills. She and senior Madison McCartney both added six block assists. Junior Abby Felkai posted a team-high ten assists while sophomore Sophia Bond's 14 digs paced Lehigh.
Bri Frazilus and Sidney Shaffer led Bucknell with 12 and ten kills respectively.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday, November 7 at 7 p.m. at Grace Hall against Army West Point.
