BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The middle game of a three-game homestand brings Vermont to Stabler Arena Saturday to face Lehigh at 1 p.m. For the second time in three games, the Mountain Hawks will square off against a fellow 2025 NCAA Tournament team.
Â
Lehigh is looking to bounce back after dropping its last two games. The Mountain Hawks fell to defending MAAC champion Fairfield last Saturday and then dropped an 81-70 decision to La Salle in Lehigh's home opener Wednesday night.
Â
Four Mountain Hawks scored in double figures and Lehigh led by one point at halftime, but the Brown and White were done in by a third quarter that saw the visiting Explorers outscore Lehigh by a 28-12 margin.
Â
Junior guard Jessie Ozzauto led the way with 17 points, while Whitney Lind contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Sophomore Belle Bramer chipped in 14 points and four steals in her first career start, and first-year Leia Edwards also scored 14.
Â
The reigning America East champions, Vermont is off to a 3-0 start this season. The Catamounts dominated Dean College 137-31 in their opener and also beat Saint Anselm before topping Buffalo 73-55 Wednesday for their first Division I win.
Â
Nikola Priede leads Vermont, averaing 20.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while Keira Hanson has added 18 points per game.
Â
The Catamounts were a 15 seed in last year's NCAA Tournament, losing at No. 2 NC State in the first round.
Â
This will be just the second ever meeting between Lehigh and Vermont in women's basketball. The Mountain Hawks won the previous meeting 87-78 on Dec. 20, 2013 in the semifinals of the Christmas City Classic. Lehigh shot 53 percent from the field and placed four players in double figures, led by Kerry Kinek's 24.
