Both Lehigh Teams Tied For Sixth After Round One Of Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Both Lehigh teams shot rounds of 305 Saturday as the Mountain Hawks opened the Lehigh Invitational with 18 holes of golf on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. Lehigh's A and B squads are tied for sixth place in a 12-team field entering Sunday's final round.
Senior Jake Roth led the way for Lehigh Saturday with a round of even par 72 to lead the A team. Roth made two birdies on the front nine and is tied for fourth place. He is two strokes behind the leader Pietro Maria Piccoli of FDU.
The Lehigh B team was led by first-years Ryan Cronin (73) and Drew Golden (74), who are tied for seventh and 14th, respectively. Both players' opening rounds included three birdies.
Junior Charles Schrohe shot 77 Saturday and is tied for 31st place, while playing for the A team. Schrohe's opening round included one birdie.
Three Mountain Hawks are part of a tie for 35th place after shooting 78: seniors Aiden LeBlanc (A) and Paulius Malcius (A) and junior Matthew Quinn (B). Malcius led the group with three birdies, while LeBlanc made two and Quinn carded one.
Senior Will Caronchi shot 79 for the A team with two birdies and is tied for 42nd place.
Sophomores Luke Block and Noah Zyung are tied for 51st place after shooting 80 for the B team. Block eagled the par 5 15th hole, while Zyung made one birdie.
Evansville shot 290 as a team to lead the team race. The Purple Aces lead FDU and Lafayette by five strokes.
The Lehigh Invitational concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes beginning at 10 a.m.
