Lehigh Defeated 18-8 By Bucknell In Seven Innings

Teddy Tolliver started for Lehigh (19-15-1, 6-8 PL) and was credited with the loss after conceding five runs in the first inning. Bucknell's (15-20, 7-11 PL) starter Jack O'Malley earned the win after striking out five in 4.2 innings of work.
The Bison came out of the gates swinging, scoring eight runs across the first two innings. Three doubles in a row scored four runs for Bucknell in the first followed by a sac-fly to set the score 5-0 after one. A Michael Trommer RBI double and 2RBI single from Tyler Dunn in the second inning put the Bison ahead 8-0 after two innings.
The Mountain Hawks scored their first runs of the game in the third inning when Tyler Young hit a ground-rule double over the right field fence that scored two runs. However, Bucknell again scored five runs in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 11.
Lehigh added another run in fourth when Justin Butler ran home on a wild pitch, but the Bison continued to respond, scoring two more in the bottom of the inning. The Mountain Hawk offense finally showed some serious signs of life in the fifth, as five runs came across the plate to cut the Bucknell lead to seven. Once again, the Bison added three runs in the following half inning to get their lead back up to ten.
After both teams went scoreless in the sixth and the Mountain Hawks were unable to score in the seventh, the game was called short, awarding Bucknell with their seventh Patriot League victory of the season.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday, April 17 against Lafayette in the Rivalry presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. from J. David Walker Field.
