BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Standing 0-2-2 on the season with multiple near-victories, the Lehigh women's soccer team eyes its first win of the season when it travels to Temple on Thursday to face the Owls. Opening kickoff is 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks then travel to Fordham on Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up their four-game road trip.

Lehigh began its 2019 road schedule with a 1-1 tie at Fairleigh Dickinson, followed by a 2-1 double overtime defeat at Duquesne this past weekend. The Mountain Hawks have had varying levels of slow starts in each of their first four games, but put together strong finishes. Sunday was a competitive contest at Duquesne. It was scoreless past the 60th minute, but the Dukes scored first at the 62:43 mark. Lehigh answered right back less than six minutes later as senior and 2018 first team All-Patriot League honoree Kayla Arestivo scored her first goal of the season, from classmate Maggie Wadsworth.

Despite holding a 3-1 shots edge in the overtime periods, Duquesne scored on its only shot of the extra frames in the 101st minute to hand the Mountain Hawks a tough defeat. In the end, Lehigh held a 24-19 edge in shots, but Duquesne had a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Miranda Royds finished with eight saves, including stopping a second-half penalty kick. At FDU, Royds made seven stops while classmate Lisa Kestelboym scored late in regulation to help earn the draw.

Temple stands 1-2 on the young season, falling at No. 23 Wake Forest (3-0), beating UMBC (3-1) and falling at Sacred Heart (3-1). Last season, the Owls finished 7-11-1, 3-5-1 in the American Athletic Conference to earn a spot in the AAC Tournament. Gabriela Johnson and Morgan Morocco lead the offense with three points via a goal and assist apiece. Morgan Basileo has played every minute in goal, tallying a 2.33 goals against average and 75.0 save percentage. Temple was predicted ninth in the AAC preseason poll.

Lehigh is 8-4-1 all-time against Temple, having won the last five meetings. Last season, the Mountain Hawks beat the Owls 2-0 at home, behind goals from Rebecca Van Siclen and Courtney Supp. From 2015 to 2017, Lehigh picked up three straight overtime wins over Temple (twice in overtime and once in double overtime). The last time the Mountain Hawks fell to Temple was in 2004.

Fordham is Lehigh's second of three Atlantic 10 opponents of the season (following Duquesne and before Saint Joseph's). Fordham was predicted seventh in the A-10 preseason poll (out of 14).  The Rams are 1-3 on the year with a 1-0 win over Manhattan and road losses at No. 10 Tennessee (3-1), Rutgers (5-0) and Hofstra (6-1). Fordham's goals have been scored by Saige Bingman, Amanda Miller and Kristen Cocozza. Kelly LaMorte has started every game in goal, tallying a 3.50 GAA and 62.2 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks are 3-1 all-time against Fordham, falling to the Rams last season by a 1-0 final. The first meeting between the sides was in 1991, a 1-0 Lehigh victory on the road.

Following this week's games, Lehigh returns home on Friday, Sept. 13 to host UMBC at 6 p.m.
