Gonzalez nets singles, doubles wins as Lehigh falls 6-1 at home to Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Paula Gonzalez picked up wins in both doubles and singles action but the Lehigh women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Navy Saturday afternoon inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The visiting Mids (18-6) won two of three doubles matches and then took five of six singles matches to win their league opener. Lehigh falls to 4-9 with its second league loss in as many days.
Navy clinched the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights, but Gonzalez teamed with junior Sibel Can to post a 6-3 win over Navy's Amanda Cyr and Catalina Rico.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. Navy extended its lead to 3-0 with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, but Gonzalez put the Mountain Hawks on the board with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ansofi Wreder at the top flight. Katreina Corpuz clinched the match for the Mids with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over senior Grace Lin at No. 4.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Sunday, March 31 when they visit Colgate for a 10 a.m. match.
