The Mountain Hawks were eager and ready to play in front of their home and earn their first victory of the season Friday night. The visitors from West Chester had other plans unfortuneately. Lehigh came out firing early and often in the 1st period, tallying 17 shots on goal for the period. The lone Lehigh goal in the 1st period was put in by Adam Goldstein (McGee, Flego) at 13:32. The Golden Rams were able to put 2 past Lehigh goalie Patrick Walgren, and went into the first intermission with a 2-1 advantage.
Lehigh was able to sneak two more goals past West Chester goalie Mike Rice in the 2nd. The contributors on those two goals were Christopher Ramondelli (A. Goldstein, Flego) at :20 and Kevin McGee (Lehrer, C. Ramondelli) at 4:19. West Chester took control of the game in this period, scoring 5 goals to take a 7-3 advantage into the 2nd intermission.
Golden Rams goalie Mike Rice shut out the Mountain Hawks in the 3rd and ended up scoring two more goals in the final period to earn a 9-3 victory. Lehigh will be looking to bounce back as they face Seton Hall Saturday afternoon at Steel Ice. Puck drop for this game is scheduled for 1:15pm. As always, admission to Lehigh Hockey games at Steel Ice is free. You can keep up with all the action by following Lehigh Hockey on twitter at @LUIcehockey.
