Lehigh men's tennis pulls back to .500

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A week after picking up its first victory of the season, the Lehigh men’s tennis team kept on rolling as it defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) 7-0 and Monmouth 5-2 Saturday in the Lewis Tennis Center. With the wins the Mountain Hawks improve to 3-3 on the season and bring their record back to .500.
The Mountain Hawks picked up their second consecutive win in impressive fashion as they swept the Terriers 7-0. In doubles action, Lehigh earned wins in all three of its matches. Picking up wins for the Brown and White were juniors Collin Laffey and Troy List (at No.1), sophomore Leland Richardson and freshman Matt Savran (at No.2) and at No. 3 doubles, were juniors Cameron Silbert and Arnaldo Pacheco.
In singles play, the Mountain Hawks earned straight set victories in every match. List defeated Kanlahdi Robinson 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and the other winners for Lehigh included: Laffey, Richardson, Ryan Krueger, Edgars Rauza and Matthew Fink.
In the second match of the day against Monmouth, List and Laffey picked up the win at No. 1 doubles, but Pacheco and Silbert fell short in the second doubles match.
In the No. 1 singles match against the Hawks, List picked up his fourth win of the day as he defeated Laurence Heads 7-5 and 6-1. Laffey and Richardson suffered Lehigh’s only two losses in singles action as they lost the second and third matches. The Mountain Hawks finished up strong as they picked up wins from Krueger and freshman Andrew Krentz to secure the victory.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action Sunday afternoon as they host Mount St. Mary’s in the Lewis Tennis Center at 1:00 p.m.
