“We can not come into a match and decide not to play,” said head coach Amanda Moran. “We can not come out and expect to win on late rallies. Until we come into a match, ready to play 100 percent, we can not get over the hump.”
The Mountain Hawks had to come back from early deficits in each game. With the Leopards just one point away from winning the match, the Mountain Hawks rallied from behind, notching six points to bring the score to 29-27. However,
Senior Michelle Schwendenmann recorded a match-high 16 kills and had team-highs in hitting percentage (.448) and digs (7). Freshman Sarah Wolfe put up 31 assists, while classmate Mo McReynolds notched three service aces.
Canto-Ponce was the only player to reach double-digits in dig totals as she recorded a match-high 10. Canto-Ponce also recorded a team-high nine kills. Megan Carter had a match-high of 32 assists.
The Mountain Hawks will play in their final home match of October on Wednesday when the Villanova Wildcats visit the Leeman-Turner Arena. Match time is set for 7:00 pm.
