Jimenez Ready For Senior World Championships in Croatia

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Audrey Jimenez from the Lehigh women's wrestling team is headed back to Europe. Jimenez won a silver medal last month at the U20 World Championships in Bulgaria and will now represent the United States at 50 kg in women's freestyle at the UWW Senior World Championships, Sept. 13-21 in Zagreb, Croatia.

This will be the second of three world championships for Jimenez, who went 3-1 with three technical superiority victories at the U20 World Championships, on the way to earning her fifth career age group world medal.

Women's freestyle seeds were announced by UWW on Sept. 5 with Jimenez seeded seventh at 50 kg.

The women's freestyle portion of the competition runs from Sept. 15-18. The 50 kg qualification rounds and semifinals are set for Tuesday, Sept. 16 with action beginning at 4:30 a.m. ET. Semifinal bouts will be contested at approximately 10:30 a.m. ET.

Day two for the 50 kg weight class begins with repechage matches, Sept. 17 at 4:30 a.m. ET with medal matches to follow at 12 p.m. ET.

In addition to the Senior World Championships, Jimenez will compete at a third world championship tournament, the U23 World Championships, Oct. 20-27 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
