BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 51st Annual Paul Short Run took place October 2-3, 2025 on the campus of Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The race is one of the nation's premier cross country events, and this year featured nearly 6,000 athletes from over 500 institutions. 

The Georgetown Hoyas men's cross country team took home first place in the Gold 8k race, their fifth in the meet's history, scoring 102 total points to finish first in a pool of 40 teams. The Hoyas were followed by Utah State in second place (123 points) and Texas A&M in third (137 points). It was Harvard's Sam Burgess who claimed the individual championship with a time of 23:18.6 followed by Georgetown's Birhanu Harriman in second (23:19.2) and Burgess' Crimson teammate Tom Gavenas in third (23:20.1).
 
The women's Gold 6K race was won by Villanova, finishing the day with a team score of 110 points. This was Villanova's seventh Paul Short win, allowing the Wildcats to stand alone with the most wins in the meet's history on the women's side. The two teams who Villannova surpassed were also the second and third place finishers this year. Trailing Villanova was Penn State, who claimed second place with 115 points, while Georgetown finished third with 143 total points. Georgetown's Melissa Riggins finished first with a time of 19:34.8, this was the fourth fastest 6k time ever run on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. She was trailed by Elon's Katie Blount in second, who ran 19:56.2 and secured the sixth place time on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course record list. Villanova's Margaret Carroll came third, running 19:38.3.

The men's 8K Brown race was won by George Washington, who tallied a team total of 47 points. American and Binghamton followed suit in second (117) and third (145) in the Brown race. Indiana (Pa.)'s Mike Formica won the individual crown, coming in at 24:18.2. Michael Bohlke of George Washington claimed second (24:20.8) while UNB's Jared Howse finished behind the two in third (24:23.1).

George Washington also took home first prize in the women's 6K Brown race, tallying a team score of 99. The next closest school was Iona, who finished with 154 points, while Binghamton again came in third with 177. Ruth White of New Hampshire finished in first place with a time of 20:29.4, Iona's Tayla Gunton came in second (20:41.5) and Manhattan's Mikaella Martin claimed third (21:00.0).

NYU won the men's White 8K race, finishing with 54 points, followed by Amherst in second and Carnegie Mellon in third. Will Shuflit of Colorado College was the first runner to finish, crossing the line at 24:04.9. The other two podium placing runners in the race were Roger Williams' Nathan Tassey (24:18.2) and Loras's Isaac Bourne (24:25.1 in second and third.

In the women's White 6K race, NYU took top prize again, scoring 55 points in the race. Carnegie Mellon came in second place with 157 points, while SUNY Geneseo scored 197 to take third. RPI's Jules Bleskowski was first to cross the finish line (20:20.8), followed by Middlebury's Audrey Maclean (20:27.7) in second and Amherst's Hannah Stephenson (20:38.9) in third.

Haskell Indian won the men's Green 8k race, scoring an impressive 83 points. Mary Washington followed, scoring 124, and St. Michael's finished third with 148 points. Susquehanna's Derick Blair took the win, crossing the line in 25:18.8. Jacob Dinerman of Rutgers-Camden placed second (25:33.2), and Haskell Indian's Jaiven Hale finished third (25:45.5)

Sonoma State took control of the women's 6k race, scoring 133 points. Jefferson (Pa.) placed close behind in second with 146 points, and West Chester placed third with 173. St. Michael's  had the first place runner, as Fran Peterson won the race with a time of 22:12.5. Franklin & Marshall's Tara Silverman (22:18.8) and Kristina Tapia (22:27.0) of West Chester finished second and third respectively.

The men's Open 8K race was taken by Jackson Shorten of Princeton with a time of 23:59.4 out of a pool of 575 runners. Unattached runner Mary-Kate Finn finished ahead of the pack in the women's Open 6K, clocking in at 20:04.4 from a field of 442 athletes.

In the Boys' High School Gold 5K race, North Penn finished first as a team (104) while Travis Furmanski of Cedar Crest claimed the first-place prize (14:53.8). The Girls' Gold 5K was won by Gwynedd Mercy Academy (214), just edging out Conestoga (221). Episcopal Academy's Kendra Williamson was the race's top overall finisher at 17:04.9. 

Hempfield won the Boys' Brown 5K (218) and Ryan Gourley of Oley Valley took home first place (15:33.8). North Catholic (107 points) won the Girl's Brown 5k race, and Ella Blanco of Mercersburg Academy (18:23.9) was the individual leader. 

St. Joseph's Metuchen won the Boys' White 5k race with 110 points, and Charles Brown of South Western was the first overall finisher at 16:23.1. The winner of the Girls' White 5k race was Agnes Irwin School (77), with Chloe Joslyn of Boiling Springs taking the win (18:44.2).
