BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the 2025-26 Lehigh men's basketball season right around the corner, Murray H. Goodman '48 head coach Brett Reed has named junior guard Nasir Whitlock as team captain for the upcoming season.
"We are pleased to have Nasir as our team's captain," said Reed. "He's grown in his role and responsibilities over his career. His influence on the team has been significant since this last spring. His teammates and coaches recognize his leadership abilities, and I have confidence he will excel in his role."
Whitlock was a key element of Lehigh's offense in 2024-25, averaging 10.5 points per game on 44.0% from the field and 36.6% from three. His numbers elevated against Patriot League competition, averaging 13.4 points per game on 47.2% shooting and 40.8% from three. Whitlock reached double-figures 16 times a season ago, including a career-high 24 points on 7-11 shooting against Boston U. on February 26.
"It's a blessing to be named team captain by my coaches and peers," said Whitlock. "I feel like I've been perseverant and put the work in. It's an honor to be here, and I'm ready to get to work, ready to lead, and ready to win."
The Mountain Hawks will kick off the 2025-26 campaign on the road on Monday, November 3 against the #2 Houston Cougars before the team's home opener against Valley Forge at Grace Hall on Thursday, November 6.
