2016 (SENIOR SEASON)
Drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 25th round of the MLB Draft…named the 2016 Patriot League Player of the Year and garnered first team All-Patriot League honors, becoming the first-ever Lehigh baseball player to be a three-time first team All-Patriot League honoree…also the first player in program history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree and three-time Academic All-League member…set new Lehigh career records in hits (236), doubles (60 – also a Patriot League record), games played (205) and at bats (746), while ranking second in career RBI (140), home runs (22), triples (10) and runs scored (145)… hit .313 during his senior season, including a .373 mark in Patriot League play, with league-best marks in slugging percentage (.562) and runs scored (51) in addition to nine home runs and 37 RBI…tallied 15 multiple hit games and 11 multiple RBI games…hit a pair of home runs in the Patriot League Semifinal series at Holy Cross…smacked a three-run home run and went 2-for-4 with four RBI in game one of the Army series (4/30)… hit the game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of game one against Lafayette (4/23), a victory that sparked Lehigh closing the regular season by winning 10 of its final 11 contests…went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and a home run and four RBI in a game-two win at Bucknell (4/2)…earned several of the Lehigh Athletics department's top awards as he was named the 2016 Graduating Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which is considered to be the most prestigious honor awarded to a student-athlete in the department… also named the recipient of the John A. Put together one of the most decorated seasons in Lehigh history…drafted by the New York Yankees in the 38th round of the MLB draft…named a second team All-American by Baseball America…earned NCBWA District I Player of the Year accolades and ABCA/Rawlings East First Team All-Region honors…named the Patriot League Tournament MVP and earned a spot on the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament team…was a unanimous first team All-League selection and earned Academic All-League honors for the second straight year… finished his junior campaign with a .359 batting average and a league-best 54 RBI and .651 slugging percentage that ranks 19th in Division I… set a new Lehigh single-season home run record with 13 long balls and finished the season with 75 hits, the second most in a single season at Lehigh…finished the season with 23 multiple hit games and 14 multiple RBI games…earned PLT MVP honors after tallying 11 RBI and five home runs throughout Lehigh’s six PLT games…knocked doubles in both of Lehigh’s NCAA Tournament games against LSU and Tulane…scored the game-winning run in game three of the PL Championship series to help Lehigh to its second-ever league crown…went 4-for-5 with a grand slam and solo home run in the Mountain Hawks’ game one win in the Patriot League Championship series…hit two dingers in the third and decisive game of the Patriot League semifinal series against Holy Cross…earned the team’s Outstanding Athlete award at the end of the season and a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Played in 47 games, starting 44 of them…hit 2-for-4 and scored three runs against Temple…went a season-best 6-for-6 at the plate with six RBI, scored three runs and stole two bases against Drew…hit a pair of doubles and scored three times against Rider…went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs against Navy…stole 15 bases in 15 attempts, including home plate in a contest at Holy Cross.

A local product, Garzillo comes to Lehigh from Nazareth High School. A 2011 and 2012 First Team All-Area performer by the Morning Call and Express-Times, Garzillo was named a First Team All-Conference shortstop. He was the 2011 Morning Call Baseball Player of the Year, and the 2012 Legion Batting Title Champion. Garzillo helped lead Nazareth to the 2011 and ’12 District Championship while winning the 2012 LVC Title. Off the field, the Wind Gap, Pa. native was a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Athlete Character Council.
