Patriot League Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Five members of the Lehigh baseball team have been named to the All-Patriot League squads, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Junior centerfielder Justin Pacchioli and sophomore second baseman Mike Garzillo were each named first team All-Patriot League. Senior relief pitcher Nick Cassell, junior catcher Tim McKay and junior first baseman Connor Faust were tabbed as second team All-Patriot League selections.

After battling through an injury during the beginning of the season, Pacchioli came back to hit a league-leading .386 during Patriot League play. The speedy centerfielder also led the league in hits (27), on base percentage (.482) and stolen bases (11) during league play. Pacchioli finished the regular season hitting a team-best .376 through 30 games with 41 hits, 16 runs scored, six RBI and 13 stolen bases. The Easton, Pa. native recorded multiple hits in 11 of the 29 games he started this season and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak. The All-Patriot League honor is the second of Pacchioli's career.

Garzillo earns the first All-League distinction of his career following a strong sophomore campaign in which he led the team and ranked within the league's top ten in multiple offensive categories. The second baseman leads the Mountain Hawks with 14 multiple hit and ten multiple RBI games this season and has recorded a squad-best 30 RBI, 51 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, 20 walks and .425 slugging percentage. The Wind Gap, Pa. native started 43 games for the Mountain Hawks this season.

Cassell was named second team All-Patriot League after recording a league-best seven saves this season. The righty spent his last three years primarily as a starting pitcher, but moved into a closing role this season with great success. His four wins are tied for the team lead, making him one of just 14 Division I pitchers to lead his team in wins and saves. He finished the regular season with a 3.34 ERA, 4-3 record and 36 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched.  It's the first All-League honor of his career.

McKay took on a larger role this season as Lehigh's starting catcher. The junior hit .301 through the regular season with 14 runs scored, 12 RBI and six extra-base hits. A force behind the plate, McKay caught 16 runners stealing and picked off four others, which ranks second in the Patriot League, over the course of the season. This is the first All-League honor of his career.

Faust also earned second team All-Patriot League honors after taking on a new role this season. The junior spent the last two seasons at third base but switched over to first with great success. He recorded a .992 fielding percentage while making just one error all season. The Center Valley, Pa. native hit .256 with an impressive 19 RBI, 16 runs scored, seven doubles, ten walks and seven stolen bases this season. Faust recorded three RBI in three separate games this season while registering multiple hits in nine contests.

The five Mountain Hawks helped lead Lehigh to its first postseason appearance in four years as Lehigh secured the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament with a 10-10 league record and 23-21 overall mark.
