In its final dual action of 2009 the 12th-ranked Lehigh wrestling team posted a 2-1 record at the Journeymen/Asics Northeast Duals Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College’s McDonough Sports Complex. Senior David Craig and sophomore Zach Rey each went 3-0 on the day to lead the Mountain Hawks, who downed North Carolina 26-10 and beat No. 7 Nebraska 18-15 before falling to No. 6 Maryland 22-12 in their final dual of the day. Lehigh finishes the month of November with a 6-2 dual record.

Behind a combined 38 points from freshmen C.J. McCollum (20) and Holden Greiner (18) Lehigh earned its third consecutive victory with a 76-67 win over St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday evening.  McCollum was a perfect ten-of-ten at the foul line, while Greiner sank eight-of-ten shots from the field to give the Mountain Hawks their first road win of the season and improve their record to 3-2.  Two players for the Red Flash scored 14 points as they fall to 1-4 following the set back.

Anndrea Yetter graduated from Lehigh in 2008 after playing defense for the Mountain Hawks women’s soccer team. Yetter’s team role helped provide defensive support.  Yetter’s post-graduation life path differs from many recent college graduates.  Shortly after graduating, Yetter began preparing for a journey that she says would later change her life. Yetter decided to live in South Africa for nine months as a member of an organization called Grassroots Soccer.

Senior captain Matt Cohen was named the 2009 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday and was joined by eight other Mountain Hawks on the All-League teams.  Cohen was joined on the First Team by fellow captain BJ Benning and junior Jarard Cribbs on defense, while senior Anthony Fossati and junior Will Rackley were the offensive selections.  Lehigh’s Second Team picks included juniors Jay Campbell, Ricky Clerge and John Kennedy on offense and senior Troy Taylor and Kennedy, who made the team as a defensive back and return specialist, on defense.

For the second time this season the Lehigh women’s basketball team was able to close out a game in the second half as they defeated the Binghamton Bearcats 76-62 Tuesday night from the Events Center. Leading 40-39 early in the second half the Mountain Hawks went inside and finished the game on a 36-23 run to put away the Bearcats. Junior Courtney Dentler came up big for the second straight game and scored a career-high 17 points off the bench. With the win Lehigh improves to 4-1 on the season and earned its fourth straight over Binghamton.
