Lehigh women’s soccer placed 17 student-athletes on the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks earned success on and off the field in 2011, earning wins over Patriot League Champion Army and finalist Navy. They also sustained excellence in the classroom, led by senior Jana Basubas.
The Lehigh women’s soccer team celebrated a strong 2011 season with is annual banquet on Sunday, Jan. 15, in the University Center. It was a chance for players and coaches to reflect on a season that featured a win over Patriot League finalist Navy and tie versus eventual league champion Army, along with a number of individual accolades.
The Lehigh women’s soccer team was recently honored for its work in the classroom with an NSCAA Academic Award, as unveiled earlier this month. It marks the Mountain Hawks’ ninth straight season with the honor, presented to teams with a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is for the 2010-11 academic year.
Lehigh senior Genna Pepe has been named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Team, as announced by the NSCAA on Wednesday. Pepe scored a pair of goals in 2011 while helping anchor the Mountain Hawks’ defense as the left back. The honor comes after earning All-Patriot League honors for the second time in her career.
Lehigh women’s soccer senior Jana Basubas was recognized on Wednesday with Academic All-Patriot League honors, as announced by the league. Basubas was voted on by the league’s Sports Information Directors as one of 11 members on the team. The Patriot League’s only Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award candidate, Basubas shined on the field and in the classroom during her stellar four-year career.
