Lehighsports.com presents an introduction to the newest member of the women’s soccer program, Eric Lambinus. Lambinus began his tenure as the fourth coach in Lehigh women's soccer history on February 15. After a couple of his first days at Lehigh, Lehighsports.com’s Jeff Tourial sat down with the new head women’s soccer coach to chat about his transition into the department, his goals, and his expectations.

Lehigh head coach Eric Lambinus has announced the addition of eight student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks women’s soccer program in the fall. The class of 2014 features players across all positions and stretches nationally with six states represented including Virginia, Nebraska and California. Because Lambinus has been on the job for less than a month, he is grateful for the work done by former head coach Manny Oudin in putting together a quality class.

Last month, Lehigh took some time to reflect on its 2009 season Eugene M. '35 and Harriet Henry Fall Sports Banquet, which was held on Sunday, January 17, at the University Center and was sponsored by the Lehigh Athletics Partnership. The Mountain Hawks enjoyed a successful 9-4-5 season that featured a season-opening win over Big XII member Nebraska plus an overtime triumph over NCAA tournament participant Monmouth and a 4-1 throttling of Patriot League Champion Colgate.

Lehigh Athletics has announced the hiring of Eric Lambinus as its new head women’s soccer coach.  Lambinus arrives at Lehigh from nearby Moravian College where he enjoyed a great deal of success as the head women’s and men’s soccer coach during an 11-year span.  He replaces Manny Oudin, who left Lehigh in mid-January to become the Athletic Director at Moravian Academy.  “I would like to thank (Lehigh Dean of Athletics) Joe Sterrett and the athletic staff for welcoming me to the Lehigh community,” Lambinus explained.  “It needed to be the perfect fit for me to consider leaving Moravian College and it became very clear through the search process that Lehigh is that place for me and my family.”

Lehigh placed 15 student-athletes on the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll for women’s soccer, which was announced Thursday afternoon. Senior Natalie Hojnacki led the Mountain Hawks with a 3.79 grade point average in the fall semester. The finance major narrowly edged four of her teammates who also eclipsed a 3.75 last fall. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain a 3.2 GPA. Lehigh’s 15 selections ranked fourth among Patriot League schools, as American led the league with 22 selections.
