Five Mountain Hawks were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on Thursday, led by senior captain Sarah Fudin who registered a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the 2009 spring semester.  In all 78 women’s lacrosse student-athletes from around the Patriot League were named to the Honor Roll, led by Bucknell’s Alyssa DeLorenz, who earned Scholar Athlete of the Year accolades in April.  To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.2 GPA and earn a varsity letter in his or her sport.

Mendham graduate Lauren Dykstra will be in Maryland on Aug. 1 when she and 64 other athletes nationwide will be competing for a spot on the Women's Lacrosse U.S. Development Team. Dykstra, who graduated Mendham in 2007, just finished her sophomore campaign at Lehigh and earned the honor of being selected Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 67 goals in 17 games.

Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern announced on Monday that Erin Goodman has joined the Mountain Hawks staff for the 2009-10 academic year.  Goodman recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame where she was a three-year starter at goalkeeper.  “(Assistant coach) Kelley (Putnam) and I welcome Erin Goodman to our staff with great enthusiasm,” Redfern commented.  “She is the type of student-athlete we believe to be an exemplary role model having excelled in the classroom in an academically challenging environment and also on the field for a highly regarded Division I program.  Erin’s goalkeeping expertise will provide another strong step forward in our player development.  We expect her presence to have an immediate impact on our team.”

Rising junior Lauren Dykstra is one of 64 women’s lacrosse players from around the nation that have advanced to the second round of tryouts for the 2009-10 United States women’s developmental team.  The first set of tryouts featured more than 150 players in the Stars & Stripes Division vying for spots for the U.S. team tryout, and took place over Memorial Day Weekend at Cedar Lane Sports Park in Bel Air, Maryland.  Dykstra is one of two Patriot League student-athletes that made it through to the second round, and the New Jersey native will compete at the second round of tryouts on August 1-2, held on the campus of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

Sophomore Lauren Dykstra was named to the 2009 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Mid-Atlantic Region First-Team, it was announced on Thursday.  The 2009 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Dykstra led the country in ground balls this past season, while ranking fifth in goals and 25th in points.  The business major becomes Lehigh’s first All-Region selection since Jill Altshuler in 1996.
