During the month of November a pair of Lehigh women’s golfers traveled to Paraguay to compete in the 64th South American team match play championship (Copa Los Andes championship). Senior Livia Amado (Brazil) and freshman Ginette Schapira (Uruguay) were hand-picked by their respective countries to compete in the tournament, which took place from November 25-28. Along with Brazil and Uruguay there were competitors from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela in attendance.

Freshman Rosie Davies shot a 154 (78, 76) over the course of 18 holes and tied for first place at the 2009 Kelly Gutshall Invitational.  Davies tied with Harriet Owers-Bradley of Yale who also shot a 154 (79, 75), while Lehigh senior Livia Amado shot a 157 (77, 80) and tied for fourth in the individual standings.  Harvard shot a 633 (318, 315) to claim the team title, and the Crimson were followed by Columbia (312, 324 = 636), Penn (325, 318 = 643), Lehigh (328, 322 = 650) and Yale (332, 323 = 655).

Livia Amado is tied for first and Rosie Davies is tied for fourth after one round of play at the 2009 Kelly Gutshall Invitational, held at Saucon Valley Country Club.  Amado, who shot a 77, is tied with Columbia’s Jennifer Adyorough and Lynda Kwon, while Davies shot a 78 and sits in a tie with Katie Sylvan of Harvard and Columbia’s Robin Lee.  Columbia leads in the team standings with a 312 and the Lions are followed by Harvard with a 318, Penn with a 325, the Mountain Hawks with a 328 and Yale with a 332.  Lehigh B is sixth with a 343.

The Lehigh women’s golf team will play its final match of the 2009 fall season this weekend in the luxury of their own backyard as the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club.  Nine teams will compete on the Weyhill Course as Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Boston College, Dartmouth, Siena, Penn and Towson join the Brown and White for the two-day tournament.  Action gets underway on Saturday morning and will conclude on Sunday.
