34 Lehigh student-athletes were named to the 2009 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, it was announced on Wednesday.  Four Mountain Hawks, including Jillian Randolph, Theresa Fromm, Chris Contino and Evans Kosgei registered a perfect 4.00 grade point average for the semester.  To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.2 GPA and earn a varsity letter in his or her sport.

Seven Lehigh student-athletes were recently recognized as recipients of the 2009 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award.  The seven winners included Jillian Randolph (women’s track and field), Evans Kosgei (men’s track and field),Shannon Alejandro (women’s track and field), Roxy Jahangeri (women’s soccer), Quadir Carter (football), Anne Rodriguez (women’s swimming), Marquis Hall (men’s basketball).  Hall, Rodriguez and Randolph were First-Team selections, while Carter and Kosgei earned Second-Team recognition, Jahangeri earned a spot on the Third-Team, and Alejandro was an Honorable Mention selection.  The seven selections are the most Lehigh has ever had.

Lehigh concluded its 2009 season this weekend at the NCAA East Regional, held on the campus of North Carolina A&T University as three Mountain Hawks competed.  Senior Sarah Serwo ran the 800 in a time of 2:14.09 in the prelims, while sophomore James Pachucki finished 14th in the javelin with a throw of 199’4” and junior Khalil Uqdah finished 17th in the pole vault.

Three Lehigh student-athletes will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend to compete at the 2009 NCAA East Regional, held on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.  Senior Sarah Serwo, junior Khalil Uqdah and sophomore James Pachucki will be making their second consecutive appearance at the East Regional after the three Mountain Hawks competed at last year’s event in Tallahassee, Florida.  Serwo will run the 800-meters, while Uqdah will compete in the pole vault and Pachucki will take part in the javelin.

Lehigh wrapped up competition at the 2009 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships on Sunday, as two individuals competed, in addition to one relay team.  The women’s 4x800 team crossed in a time of 9:03.63 to place sixth in their event, as the Mountain Hawks defeated Yale and Harvard.  The relay team consisted of Shannon Alejandro, Jillian Randolph, Sarah Serwo and Jen Therkorn.  Juniors Nick Ray (shot put) and Frank Johson (triple jump) also competed, as Ray finished 18th and Johnson 20th.  Lehigh wraps up the weekend with three NCAA Regional qualifiers, as senior Sarah Serwo (800), junior Khalil Uqdah (pole vault) and sophomore James Pachucki (javelin) all punched their ticket to North Carolina for the East Regional.
