Neal Melchionni has earned his date against the big boys. The rising Lehigh sophomore is spending his summer playing for the Ocean City Barons of the Premier Development League (PDL), the top amateur league in North America. Tuesday night Melchionni and the Barons downed the Real Maryland Monarchs 1-0 in extra time to advance to the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, where they will face four-time Major League Soccer Champions D.C. United.

More than a dozen young men and boys, all refugees from nations in West Africa who have been resettled in New York City, received a rare treat Saturday night at Giants Stadium — an audience with two professional players whose stories mirror their own.  The Red Bulls and Major League Soccer, working in association with the nonprofit organization Soccer Without Borders, played host to the young men and boys from Ivory Coast, Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Guinea.  Former Lehigh men’s soccer standout Ben Gucciardi ’05 is the founding director of Soccer Without Borders.

Twenty seven men’s soccer alumni returned for the annual Alumni Soccer game  on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the Ronald J. Ulrich Stadium on April 18.  The Lehigh men's team defeated the alumni 4-3 in a tight match that featured Robert Barber '63, Peter Jeffers '61, and Howard Segal '64.  All three laced up their boots and represented themselves and their playing legacy with great distinction.  Both alumni and current players were honored to have them on the field competing.  Lehigh Soccer was delighted to welcome its "oldest" alum, Robert L. Hirsch ‘58, to his first alumni game and looks forward to seeing him at future events.

The Lehigh men’s soccer program will host its annual Alumni Game on Saturday, April 18 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.  The game will begin at 3:00 followed by a post game reception beginning at 5:00.  This marks the fourth consecutive season the men’s soccer program will host a post game reception.

The Lehigh men’s soccer team will return to the Ulrich Sports Complex for a spring game with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Wednesday, at 6 p.m. Admission to all Lehigh men’s and women’s soccer games is free at the door. Lehigh head coach Dean Koski also announced plans to host the annual men’s soccer alumni game on April 18. The game will kick of at 3 p.m. following the women’s soccer alumni game at 1 p.m.
