The Lehigh men’s lacrosse scrimmages versus Cabrini and Stony Brook, scheduled for Sunday, February 7 at the Ulrich Sports Complex, have been postponed due to the recent snowstorm in the area.  The teams are currently working on a make-up day for the scrimmages.  The Mountain Hawks will open the 2010 regular season on Saturday, February 13 when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Saint Joseph’s Hawks.  The opening face-off is set for 1:00.

Smith Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kevin Cassese will escape the frigid temperatures of the Northeast this weekend as he heads to sunny Florida to compete as a member of Team USA as they take on Duke University as well as the United States Military Academy in a pair of exhibition matches as part of the fifth annual Champion Challenge.  The game versus Duke is slated for 1:00 on Sunday, January 31 and will be televised later that evening at 10:00 PM on ESPNU.  The game will also be re-shown on February 2 at 4:00 PM on ESPNU.

The Patriot League announced its 2010 men’s lacrosse preseason poll on Wednesday and the Mountain Hawks were selected fifth with 33 total points.  Defending league champion Navy received 11 first place votes and 71 total points as the Mids were picked to repeat with Bucknell next in line with 63 points and three first place votes.  Colgate, Army, the Mountain Hawks, Lafayette and Holy Cross round out the poll, which was announced on the Patriot League men’s lacrosse coaches teleconference.

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team is back on campus and ready to get to work as the Mountain Hawks begin preparing for the 2010 season.  Smith Family Head Coach Kevin Cassese and his team are excited about what lies ahead after a long offseason followed by a productive fall season and winter conditioning program.  The Mountain Hawks began practice this past weekend as they set their sights on Saturday, February 13 when they travel to Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph’s in the 2010 season opener.

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team is nearing the official start of their 2010 spring season which means double-duty for Mountain Hawks assistant coach Taylor Wray who is currently in the midst of his season with the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL).  Wray and the Wings have played twice this season earning their first win on January 16 with a 12-8 victory over the Boston Blazers at home.  Wray will return to action on January 23 when the Wings host the Colorado Mammoth at the Wachovia Center beginning at 7:00.
