Lehigh held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 28 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the accomplishments of the past year for both team and individual performances.  Senior captain John Reese was named the Graduating Male Athlete award winner.  A three time All-Patriot League selection, Reese anchored the Lehigh offensive line throughout his career, starting every single game at center during the past three years.  A two time captain and 2007 All-American, Reese led the Mountain Hawks “O” line to the top spot in the Patriot League in fewest sacks allowed this past season, while as a junior, he helped pave the way for the top scoring offense in the league.

As April comes to a close so too do the spring athletic seasons at Lehigh University and with the conclusion of April also comes the end of the spring season of the Lehigh Sports Magazine. This week on the Lehigh Sports Magazine television show we’re joined by head football coach Andy Coen. The annual Brown and White game was played Saturday afternoon in front of an energetic crowd which was treated to a great game that featured a terrific performance by the defensive units. Coach Coen will get us up to speed on his team’s progress so far this year.

Lehigh’s defense had its way on Saturday afternoon, causing eight turnovers en route to a 52-24 victory in the annual Brown and White spring game at Goodman Stadium in front of a crowd of nearly 1,500 people on a warm, sunny day.  The scrimmage featured the number-one and number-two offenses going head-to-head with the first and second team defenses.  Rising junior linebacker Al Pierce was the star of the day as he totaled three tackles and a pair of interceptions, one of which he returned 80 yards for a touchdown.

Lehigh Athletics has announced that two former greats have been elected to the Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame.  Football standout Pete Williams ’58 and cross country/track and field star Tim Steele ’73 comprise the class of 2008, and will be officially inducted into the Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 10.  Williams and Steele will go into the Hall of Fame along with the 2007 Class, Greg Falkenbach ’72 (basketball) and Colin Kilrain ’82 (wrestling), whose formal induction was held off for one year because Commander Kilrain was out of the country serving his duties as a Commander of Special Forces for the Navy Seals.

Lehigh’s annual Brown and White Spring Game, scheduled for Saturday, April 19 inside of Goodman Stadium will get underway at 1:30, head coach Andy Coen has announced.  Lehigh Athletics is proud to announce that for the third consecutive year, complete audio coverage of the afternoon’s events will be broadcast live on Lehighsports.com as part of its extensive broadcast package with Yahoo! Sports.  The team of veteran Matt Kerr and former Lehigh wide receiver Kody Fedorcha ’00 will handle the commentary.  Coverage will begin with Matt Kerr’s interview of Coen shortly before 1:30 PM.  Lehigh will hit the John C. Whitehead fields for practice session number-11 of 15 on Saturday, April 12 as the Mountain Hawks continue preparations for the 2008 season.
