Lehigh head coach Julie Mazer has announced that Jennifer Angers will be joining the Mountain Hawks coaching staff for the 2009-10 academic year. Angers recently graduated from the University of Vermont where she was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter for the Catamounts as a midfielder and defender.

In April, construction began on the new field for Lehigh’s field hockey program. The construction project continues on Lehigh’s Goodman Campus, just east of the new Frank Banko Field, the first project in the upgrade of the Ulrich Sports Complex, which opened in February. Construction began in early April on the new field, which will have a playing surface called AstroGrass, and is expected to be completed in time for the Mountain Hawks’ 2009 field hockey season, which begins in August.

Lehigh head coach Julie Mazer has announced the addition of seven student-athletes, who will join the Mountain Hawks field hockey program in the fall. Speed and athleticism are once again key components of the incoming class, which also includes a heavy focus on bolstering the Mountain Hawks’ efforts in the attacking half of the field, with all seven members of the class having the potential to contribute in the midfield or on the forward line.

The Lehigh field hockey program placed nine student-athletes on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad, announced on Monday. The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year.

Lehigh placed ten student-athletes on the Patriot League field hockey Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Tuesday. Freshman Caitlin Donnelly led the Mountain Hawks with a 3.92 grade point average in the College of Arts and Sciences in the fall semester. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must have a GPA of 3.2 or better and receive a varsity letter in his or her sport. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different among the Patriot League institutions.
