Lehigh fifth after 18 holes at Navy Spring Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Mountain Hawks' streak of sub-300 rounds was snapped at four but Lehigh finds itself in the mix after round one of the Navy Spring Invitational Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. Lehigh shot 302 on Saturday and sits in fifth place in a 13-team field.
 
Sophomore Owen Quinn led the Mountain Hawks in round one, shooting a three over par 74 to tie for 10th place after 18 holes. Senior Billy Johns and junior Max Redetzke were both one stroke behind Quinn and are tied for 14th place after shooting 75.
 
Also competing on Lehigh's scoring team were sophomore Ryan Kelly and junior Johnny Hsu. Kelly is tied for 33rd place after shooting 78, while Hsu shot 81 and is tied for 48th place.
 
Junior Eamon Marone is competing as an individual and shot a strong 75 to join Johns and Redetzke in the group tied for 14th place.
 
Towson leads the team race after a round of six over par 290. The Tigers lead Manhattan by seven strokes, while George Washington sits in third at 299.
 
Three players are tied for the individual lead at even par 71: Towson's William Bachelor and Spencer Alexander and Jack Porcelli of George Washington.
 
The Navy Spring Invitational concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes of play beginning at 8:30 a.m.
