BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following strong seasons on the court, Lehigh men's basketball senior Kahron Ross and junior Lance Tejada have been named second team All-Patriot League, as announced on Monday. In the process, Ross becomes the first player in school history to earn All-League four times in a career. Meanwhile, Tejada garnered All-League recognition after leading the team in scoring through the regular season.
Â
Ross broke a tie with Tim Kempton, C.J. McCollum, Marquis Hall and Matt Logie, who were All-League three times in their careers. Ross is averaging a career-high 13.0 points this season, to go with 4.3 assists. The Lehigh and Patriot League all-time leader in career assists, Ross is up to 658 career assists, shattering the previous league and Lehigh marks of 599 and 578, respectively. The Jonesboro, Arkansas native has reached double-figure points 20 times this season, including three occasions scoring 20 or more points. After 17 points on Senior Night vs. Lafayette, he is up to 1,351Â career points, good for 15th in school history. Ross has been named Patriot League Player of the Week twice this season, including after a career-high 30-point effort at American to lead the Mountain Hawks to an 80-78 overtime win. Ross shot 13-of-21 in the victory, including 3-of-3 from three-point range. He also earned the honor in December following 19 points vs. Yale then 18 against Mount St. Mary's, a game which also saw him break the Lehigh career assists record. Ross is shooting a career-high 49.8 percent from the field, including a career-high 41.0 percent from three-point range.
Â
In his first season for the Mountain Hawks, Tejada has entered the Lehigh lineup and made an immediate impact, scoring a game-high 24 points in the season opener at Marist to lead the Mountain Hawks to an overtime victory. Two games later, Tejada scored 26 points against Yale, his second of seven games with 20+ points in the regular season. He also scored 22 points at Virginia, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation. It marked the most points scored by any player against the Cavaliers' well-renowned defense since current Boston Celtics' rookie Jayson Tatum scored 28 on Feb. 15, 2017 for Duke. Tejada is averaging a team-leading 14.7 points and 2.5 rebounds for the season, including 15.0 points per game in Patriot League play. Tejada has scored 25 or more points three times to go with his seven games scoring 20 or more, both most by a Lehigh guard since current Portland Trail Blazers' standout C.J. McCollum in his injury-shortened senior campaign (2012-13) when he had six and eight, respectively. Tejada leads the Mountain Hawks and Patriot League in three-point percentage (46.4); entering the weekend, he stood eighth nationally in that category.
Â
Ross, Tejada and the Mountain Hawks are riding an eight-game winning streak to finish the regular season tied for third place in the league standings. Lehigh will host Boston University on Thursday evening (Mar. 1) in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. It marks the Mountain Hawks' fourth straight season hosting a quarterfinal contest, and eighth time in the last nine years. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Stabler Arena.
