BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an impressive week, highlighted by a career performance at American on Saturday, Lehigh men's basketball senior Kahron Ross has been named Patriot League Player of the Week for a second time this season, as announced on Monday. Ross averaged 21.0 points over a pair of overtime victories, while also adding nine rebounds, seven assists and six steals over the two contests. Included was a 30-point effort in Saturday's 80-78 win at American, which featured eight of Lehigh's 12 points in overtime.
Â
On Saturday, Ross became the first Lehigh guard to score 30 points since Mackey McKnight at Fordham on Nov. 15, 2013. He also became the first Lehigh guard to score 30 points and shoot better than 60 percent from the field since C.J. McCollum had 32 on 10-of-16 shooting at Liberty on Nov. 19, 2011. Ross finished Saturday 13-of-21 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range. He knocked down the go-ahead free throw with 59 seconds remaining in overtime and came up with a steal with 10 seconds on the clock to help prevent American from getting a chance to tie in the final seconds. Ross added four rebounds, five assists and a steal, while turning the ball over just once, to help Lehigh to its fourth straight victory and second straight in overtime. Lehigh improved to 4-1 in overtime this season and 18-2 in the month of February since the 2015-16 season.
Â
Last Monday, Ross posted 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and five steals to help Lehigh pick up a big 92-89 overtime win over Bucknell. For the season, Ross is averaging 12.7 points, 4.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds. Last week, he moved from 20th to 19th place in school history for career points (1,291).
Â
Ross and the Mountain Hawks will travel to Colgate on Wednesday to face the Raiders. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks return home next Saturday (Feb. 17) to host Army West Point at 7 p.m.
