Mountain Hawks battling Patriot League foes as Navy Fall Invitational gets underway

Day one results

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The top four teams at the Navy Fall Invitational hail from the Patriot League following 36 holes of play Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Lehigh women's golf team finds itself third among those schools and third overall in the 12 teams following Saturday's action. The Mountain Hawks shot 313 in the first round and 309 in the second to finish the day at 622.
 
Defending Patriot League Champion Richmond leads the field at 592 (303-289) while the host Mids are second at 607 (307-300). Boston University is the fourth Patriot League school in the field and is one shot behind Lehigh.
 
Coming off individual medalist honors at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, junior Reagan Jahn is the low Mountain Hawk after 36 holes as she is tied for 11th place at 152 (78-74). Senior Megan Moylan also shaved four strokes off her first round score carding a 79 and 75 to finish day one at 154 as she is tied for 15th place. Junior Aileen Jeong led Lehigh in round one with a 77 added a 79 in the afternoon to tie for 21st place at 156.
 
Lehigh's other two scoring players were freshman Alexis Browne, who is tied for 34th place at 161 (80-81) and sophomore Minuette Laessig, who is one stroke behind Browne at 162 (79-83) and is tied for 38th.
 
The Mountain Hawks also have two players competing as individuals. Freshman Angela Ding shot a pair of 79s and is tied for 25th and sophomore Rebecca Markunas carded rounds of 92 and 96.
 
Navy's Christine McDonnell holds the 36-hole individual lead at one under par 143 (75-68) and leads Kyra Horlock of Longwood and Sophie DiPetrillo of Richmond by three strokes.
 
The Navy Fall Invitational concludes with the final 18 holes Sunday with a shotgun start set for 9 a.m. Lehigh will play with Navy and Richmond.
