BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Enjoying strong success on the field and in the classroom, Lehigh women's lacrosse senior Allison LaBeau and junior Kayleen Kelly have been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced by the league on Wednesday. A four-time All-Patriot League honoree, LaBeau owns a career-high 89 points on the season while posting a strong 3.41 cumulative grade point average as a Journalism major. Meanwhile, Kelly owns an impressive 3.84 GPA as an Industrial and Systems Engineering major, and has been strong on the field as well, recording 17 groundballs, 19 caused turnovers and 28 draw controls.
Â
LaBeau was named to the team for a second straight season. She's been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on multiple occasions, was named to the Dean's List this past fall for a semester GPA of 3.6 or higher and has also earned the Faculty Athletics Council Award on numerous occasions.
Â
One of just three players in the nation to own at least 40 goals and 40 assists (currently 42 goals and 47 assists), LaBeau has dominated Patriot League opponents, recording 62 points over 10 games (6.2 per game). Most recently, LaBeau set new Patriot League Tournament single-game records for points (11) and assists (6) in Tuesday night's impressive 15-5 win over Bucknell. She has at least three points in every game this season and has recorded five or more points in 10 straight contests. LaBeau is riding a 35-game point streak overall and owns eight hat tricks this season, 27 in her career. She stands as Lehigh's all-time leader for assists in a season (47) and career (104), and stands third in school history for career points (255). LaBeau won three Patriot League Attacker of the Week awards this season, garnering eight career weekly awards. She was a two-time Patriot League major award winner (Rookie of the Year in 2014 and Attacker of the Year in 2016).
Â
Kelly has enjoyed success in the classroom, earning a spot on the Dean's List each and every semester in her career so far. She owns a perfect 4.0 GPA semester and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll after each of her first two seasons. Kelly has also garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award every semester for a semester GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Â
Kelly has played in all 17 games this season, with 16 starts, primarily at defense while serving as one of Lehigh's primary draw takers as well. She's third on the Mountain Hawks with 27 draw controls, while owning 17 groundballs and 19 caused turnovers. Kelly opened the season with five draw controls at Penn State and has recorded multiple caused turnovers in five games this season, including a season-high three at Lafayette when she held the nation's leading goal scorer Kirsten Wilhemsen to one goal, marking her season low against a Patriot League opponent. Kelly also had four draw controls and three groundballs in that game. Kelly has been a key part of a defense, which has allowed seven goals or fewer on seven occasions.
Â
Coming off Tuesday's Patriot League Quarterfinal victory, the Mountain Hawks return to the Patriot League Semifinals for a second straight season. Third-seeded Lehigh will face second-seeded Navy this Friday at 7:45 p.m. at Loyola's Ridley Athletic Complex.
