BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After wrapping up a strong career on the field, Lehigh men's lacrosse senior Cody Triolo has been named to the 76th annual USILA/Nike Division I-II North-South Game, which will be played this Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Anderson Stadium on the campus of Providence College. Lehigh is one of just three Patriot League schools with a representative in the game and Triolo is the 14th Mountain Hawk named to the roster since 2011.
Last season, Casey Eidenshink, Tripp Telesco and Reid Weber were named to the team. In 2015, goaltender Matt Poillon played in the game while Ty Souders participated in 2014. David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Mike Noone and Ryan Snyder took part in 2013, Adam Johnston, Cameron Lao-Gosney and Roman Lao-Gosney participated in 2012 while current Lehigh assistant coach Will Scudder and Jonathan Stumpf played in 2011.
An Academic All-Patriot League honoree in 2017, Triolo was also named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award earlier this season. On the field, the co-captain finished his season with a career-high 17 points, tied for fifth on the Mountain Hawks. Triolo added 20 groundballs and four caused turnovers, running on Lehigh's first midfield line. In his final collegiate game, he tallied his first-career hat trick in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at Boston University, while he posted three or more points on three other occasions: four points vs. Lafayette (two goals, two assists), three vs. Princeton (two goals, one assist) and three at Colgate (one goal, two assist).
Triolo has also impressed in the classroom, graduating on Monday from Lehigh's Integrated Business and Engineering program as a Civil Engineering and Finance major. Triolo was named Lehigh men's lacrosse's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the spring of 2015 and has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and Dean's List (for a GPA of 3.6+) each and every season/semester. Triolo has tallied three perfect 4.0 semesters and is planning on obtaining his Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
The Mountain Hawks wrapped up their season at 7-7 overall, advancing to their seventh straight Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh and Army West Point are the only two programs to compete in each of the last seven tournaments. Among Lehigh's highlight moments was two top-20 wins, over Boston University (in the regular season) and Princeton.
