PATRIOT LEAGUE RELEASE

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior David Young has been honored as the Patriot League Player of the Week as the league announced its weekly baseball awards on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly league honor for Young in his career and the first Player of the Week honor for Lehigh this season.

Young capped off his final week of home games in a Lehigh uniform in spectacular fashion as he hit a team-leading .476 and slugged a team-high 1.000 with a .500 on-base percentage in six games at Walker Field. The senior led the Mountain Hawks in most offensive categories on the week, including hits (10), home runs (3), runs batted in (12) and total bases (21). He also contributed a stellar defensive effort with 43 putouts and three assists to go along with a 1.000 fielding percentage for the week.

In Sunday's doubleheader against Army, Young totaled eight RBI and two home runs. He hit a career-high six RBI in the game three win over the Black Knights and four of his RBI on the weekend were lead-changing runs.

In league play this season, Young led Lehigh with a .368 batting average, a .647 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage, while fielding 1.000 in league games on 153 total chances.

Young's honor brings the weekly award count to seven for the Mountain Hawks this season. Lehigh accumulated six total weekly awards in the previous two seasons combined. The program record for total weekly awards in a single season is eight in 2003.
