BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a tremendous 2017 season, the Lehigh women's lacrosse program recently announced the team's award winners at its annual postseason lunch, while also announcing next season's captains. Senior Allison LaBeau and Julianne D'Orazio, and junior Kierstyn Voiro, each garnered team awards while D'Orazio, Voiro and Alexis King were named captains for the 2017-18 school year.

LaBeau was named Lehigh's Athlete of the Year for a second straight season. LaBeau finished her senior campaign with 91 points (43 goals, 48 assists), currently good for 11th in the nation in points and seventh in points per game (5.06). The 91 points stand second in school history for a single season. LaBeau was a first team All-Patriot League honoree, marking the fourth time in as many years she was named All-League, and third straight first-team honor. Currently one of just five players in the nation to own more than 40 goals and 45 assists, LaBeau dominated Patriot League foes, recording 64 points over 11 games (5.8 average). Among many highlight moments, LaBeau set a new Patriot League Tournament record for single-game points (11) and assists (6) in Lehigh's dominant 15-5 quarterfinal victory over Bucknell. LaBeau finished the tournament tied for the league record for points (13) and assists (7) in a single tournament. She stands as Lehigh's all-time leader for assists in a season (48) and career (105), and stands third in school history for career points (257).

Voiro garnered Scholar-Athlete laurels after excelling on the field and in the classroom. A first team All-Patriot League and second team All-ECAC honoree, Voiro emerged as one of Lehigh's top defensive players, helping the Mountain Hawks finish second in the Patriot League in scoring defense (9.67), which is also currently good for 20th nationally. In the end, Lehigh's defense allow seven goals or fewer on six occasions.  A key mark-up defender who was asked to cover many opponents' top players, Voiro finished second on the Mountain Hawks with 27 caused turnovers while she was fourth with 32 groundballs. Voiro tallied a career-high six caused turnovers vs. Wagner to earn Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors. In the classroom, she owns a strong 3.53 cumulative GPA as a finance major. Voiro has been named to the Dean's List on multiple occasions for a semester GPA of 3.6 or higher, has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll following every season and has garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award every semester as well.

Meanwhile, D'Orazio earned the Coaches Award for a second consecutive season, presented to the student-athlete with significant contributions to the well-being of the team in areas of attitude, improvement or special leadership. A first team All-League honoree for a second straight season, D'Orazio led the Mountain Hawks in groundballs (Patriot League leading 51) and caused turnovers (35) while standing second in draw controls (37). Offensively, the senior co-captain stood second on Lehigh in goals (36) and third in points (42), scoring multiple goals in 10 of her last 12 games. D'Orazio is already Lehigh's career leader in caused turnovers (94), which stands fifth in Patriot League history and is 12th most among active Division I players. D'Orazio was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week in consecutive weeks this March.

Lehigh also announced next season's captains at its team luncheon. D'Orazio, who will be returning for a fifth year, will return as a co-captain while two rising seniors and members of Lehigh's defense, Voiro and King, will serve as captains as well. King came into her own during her junior campaign, starting all 18 games with 24 groundballs and 22 caused turnovers (third on the Mountain Hawks).

The Mountain Hawks finished the 2017 season 12-6, improving their record over the last two seasons to 25-11 mark, tied for the third most wins over a two-year stretch in school history. Lehigh finished third in the Patriot League standings with a 6-3 league mark, its best finish since 2011.
