MALVERN, Pa. – With four scoring players shooting 73 or better Monday, the Lehigh men's golf team is off to a strong start at the Wildcat Invitational. An 18-hole total of two over par 286 at White Manor Country Club has the Mountain Hawks sitting in third place in a 19-team field. Lehigh sits just two strokes behind front-running Delaware and one shot behind second place Villanova.

Leading the way for Lehigh on Monday was freshman Ryan Kelly, who made five birdies en route to a two under par 69. Kelly is tied for third place, one stroke behind co-leaders Thomas Fricke of Navy and Patrick Luth of Cleveland State.

Sophomore Johnny Hsu and freshman Owen Quinn both posted rounds of one over par 72 and are tied for 12th place. Both Hsu and Quinn carded two birdies in Monday's opening round.

Junior Billy Johns won this event as a freshman in 2015 and opened this year's tournament with a 73 to sit in a tie for 21st place. Johns' round included four birdies but he ran into trouble with a triple bogey on the par five 11th.

Lehigh's fifth scoring player was freshman Chris Pollan, who shot 84 and sits in 103rd place.
