Â
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Three members of the Lehigh men's basketball team were named to All-Patriot League team on Monday as senior Tim Kempton was named to the first team, junior Kahron Ross garnered second team laurels and senior Austin Price was named to the third team. It marks the second straight season all three earned All-League recognition. After winning back-to-back Player of the Year awards as a sophomore and junior, Kempton is enjoying a career season in 2016-17, currently leading the league in scoring (20.0) and rebounding (10.1), both career highs. He is one of just two players in the nation averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds.
Â
Bucknell's Nana Foulland was named Patriot League Player of the Year on Monday while Colgate's Will Rayman was named the Rookie of the Year.
Â
Kempton has been a dominant force for the Mountain Hawks as one of the top players in the nation. His 20.0 points per game are 3.9 more than anyone else in the league while his 10.1 boards per game are 2.2 more than any other Patriot League player. Kempton also owns 18 double-doubles this season, eight more than anyone else in the league.
Â
One of the most decorated players in Patriot League history, this marks Kempton's third straight All-Patriot League honor. The Scottsdale, Arizona native owns 1,970 career points, good for third in school history and seventh in Patriot League history. He's grabbed 1,055 career rebounds, tops in school history and third in league history. Kempton is just the second player in school history and third in league history to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 boards. The nation's active leader in career rebounds, Kempton has recorded six double-doubles in his last seven games to reach 18 this season and 50 in his career.
Â
Kempton has continued to improve every season and has tied a league record six Patriot League Player of the Week Awards this year (with the last Player of the Week award of the season yet to be announced). Kempton is a two-time AP honorable mention All-American and a finalist for both the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar National Center of the Year Award and the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. Â
Â
Ross earned All-Patriot League honors for the third straight season, being named to the third team as a freshman and first team as a sophomore. This year, Ross is averaging 10.3 points and a team-leading 5.4 assists per game. He is shooting a career-high 47.3 percent from the field and career-high 40.6 percent from three-point range, while his 3.0 rebounds per game are also a career-high. Ross has enjoyed some impressive efforts, including 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting in Lehigh's first-ever win against the SEC earlier this season, when the Mountain Hawks defeated Mississippi State 87-73. Ross nearly posted a triple-double at Colgate, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. He was also tremendous in Lehigh's road win at American, scoring 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting while also dishing five assists.
Â
Ross is already third in school history for career assists with 525, which is also currently fifth in Patriot League history. He is rapidly approaching the 1,000 point plateau, standing at 956 career points.
Â
Meanwhile, Price has continued his strong play, averaging 12.6 points and 3.5 rebounds. He is up 14th in school history for career points (currently 1,392). Price was one of just 30 student-athletes nationwide named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. He was an All-Patriot League honoree last season when he averaged 13.0 points and 3.4 rebounds. Price is the team leader in made threes this season (66), shooting a career-high 41.5 percent from behind the arc. He has reached double-figure points in 72 career games while eclipsing 20 points on 13 occasions, all while playing tremendous defense for the Mountain Hawks.
