McGarrigle named to women's golf Academic All-Patriot League team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior Elizabeth McGarrigle has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League women's golf team it was announced Friday. McGarrigle has been a top performer in the classroom for the Mountain Hawks and enjoyed a strong finish to her junior season, earning first team All-Patriot League honors with a fourth place finish at last month's Patriot League Championship.
McGarrigle finished the Patriot League Championship at 229 (78-76-75) to tie for fourth and earn the first all-league honor of her career. The Wernersville, Pa. native and team co-captain led Lehigh with a 79.9 stroke average and was the Mountain Hawks' top finisher in three of their nine tournaments, posting sixth place finishes at the Bucknell Invitational, Lehigh Invitational and Delaware Invitational. McGarrigle's season-low round of 73 came in the final round at Delaware in October.
Academically, McGarrigle carries an impressive 3.97 cumulative GPA majoring in industrial and systems engineering. A two-time member on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, McGarrigle has regularly made Lehigh's Dean's List and has posted three perfect 4.0 semesters in her Lehigh career. McGarrigle is also active on campus with Lehigh's chapter of Student-Athletes Leading Social Change (SALSC).
McGarrigle is one of five golfers that were voted to the team. Those five best combine golf and academics. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. The team is voted on by the league's sports information directors.
Emily Tillo of Boston University was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's golf. Joining Tillo and McGarrigle on the Academic All-Patriot League Team were Navy's Renata Bucher, Boston University's Adela Cejnarova and Lindsay Dodovich from Bucknell.
