BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a solid 3-1 week, the Lehigh softball team collected two Patriot League weekly awards, as announced Monday. Senior Alexis Watanabe garnered Patriot League Player of the Week laurels while freshman Emily Sorem picked up Rookie of the Week honors. This marks the sixth and seventh Patriot League weekly awards the Mountain Hawks have received this spring.

Watanabe batted .462 with a .533 on-base percentage in four games. The San Marino, Calif. native hit safely in all four games and compiled a team-high six hits. Her week was highlighted by a 2-for-4 performance with a two-run triple in Saturday's opening game at Bucknell. The triple capped a four-run fourth inning as Lehigh won the first game of the doubleheader 10-0 in six innings. Watanabe also led Lehigh with three hits in last Wednesday's doubleheader split at Boston University. Three of Watanabe's six hits last week went for extra bases as she upped her average to .326. Watanabe leads Lehigh with 33 runs scored and is second with 46 hits on the season. This is the first player of the week award for Watanabe this season.

Sorem earned two of Lehigh's three wins last week after strong outings against BU and Bucknell. In game two in Boston, Sorem threw an eight-inning complete game, surrendering just one earned run in a 4-2 Lehigh victory. The Tigard, Ore. native retired six Terrier batters via strikeouts. Sorem topped that performance with a two-hit shutout in six innings in the 10-0 win over Bucknell. The shutout was Sorem's fourth of the season and her 14th victory of the season. After surrendering only one earned run over 14 innings, Sorem's earned run average dropped to a team-best 2.36 on the year. This is Sorem's second Rookie of the Week award.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Tuesday to complete the three game set with Bucknell. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. from Becker Field in Lewisburg, Pa.

Lehigh was slated to host Delaware in a doubleheader at Leadership Park on Wednesday but that twinbill has now been trimmed to a single game, with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. The Mountain Hawks' final non-league regular season game will be streamed on the Patriot League Network.
