BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following an impressive 2016 season, Lehigh women's lacrosse held its annual team luncheon last week, which included the handing out of team awards and announcement of team captains for next season. Junior Allison LaBeau was named Athlete of the Year while classmate Julianne D'Orazio earned the Coaches Award and sophomore Kayleen Kelly garnered Scholar-Athlete laurels.

LaBeau's junior season was highlighted by winning Patriot League Attacker of the Year and earning first team All-League honors for a third consecutive year. The league leader with 80 points, LaBeau finished with 46 goals and 34 assists, eclipsing 100 career goals in the regular season at Loyola. She was named Patriot League Attacker of the Week three times and garnered IWLCA second team All-Region recognition. LaBeau currently stands 11th nationally in points per game and 15th in goals per contest. She had at least one point in every game, recording four or more points in 13 of 18 games and multiple points in 16 contests. She added a team-high eight hat tricks. LaBeau scored a career-high six goals at Loyola during the regular season as Lehigh took the Greyhounds to overtime. She was the first Lehigh player to reach 80 points in a season since Dykstra in 2011. LaBeau was also named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team.

D'Orazio earned the Coaches Award, presented to the student-athlete with significant contributions to the well-being of the team in areas of attitude, improvement or special leadership. After missing her sophomore season due to injury, the Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania native returned with a vengeance in 2016. D'Orazio was named first team All-Patriot League and IWLCA second team All-Region. She finished the season with 17 goals, three assists, 30 draw controls, a team-leading 44 groundballs and team-leading 37 caused turnovers. The 37 caused turnovers are among the top 10 in Patriot League history and just one from tying Lehigh's single-season school record. D'Orazio was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team, posting her first two career hat tricks in the tournament while also adding four groundballs, four caused turnovers and three draw controls over the two games. She enjoyed a monster game in the regular season finale against Bucknell, recording career highs in groundballs (8) and caused turnovers (7). The seven caused turnovers marked a school record and tied the Patriot League mark while the eight groundballs were most by a Lehigh player since the 2010 season. D'Orazio was an anchor of a Lehigh defense that allowed seven goals or fewer in 11 of 18 games.

Kelly garnered the Scholar-Athlete Award for her impressive academic performance. The Bioengineering major owns a 3.87 cumulative GPA, earning a spot on the Dean's List in every semester thus far. She posted a perfect 4.0 term last fall and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll following her freshman season. On the field, Kelly made a major impact in 2016, leading the team with 41 draw controls while finishing fourth with 15 caused turnovers and adding 13 groundballs. The defender helped spearhead one of the nation's top defenses as the Mountain Hawks currently stand 20th nationally allowing just eight goals per game.

Rising seniors LaBeau, D'Orazio and Lauren Beausoleil were also announced as team co-captains for the upcoming 2016-17 school year. LaBeau will be a two-year captain after sharing captaincy with Kendall Garden this past season. Beausoleil is coming off a career year, earning second team All-Patriot League honors. She finished the season with 39 groundballs (second on the team), 16 caused turnovers (third) and 29 draw controls (third). Beausoleil finished second on the Mountain Hawks with 38 points behind 29 goals and nine assists, which included 10 goals and four assists over her final three games of the season. She scored a career-high five goals in the regular season finale vs. Bucknell then posted a career-high seven points (four goals, three assists) in the Patriot League Quarterfinal victory over Colgate.

Lehigh ended its 2016 season with a 13-5 record, just one win from tying the school record after winning a school-record six Patriot League games in the regular season. The Mountain Hawks earned a big win at Boston University, hosted and won a league tournament game for the first time since 2010 while playing in the Patriot League Semifinals for the first time since 2011. Lehigh returns a strong group of players in 2017, led by D'Orazio, LaBeau and Beausoleil who all earned All-Patriot League honors in 2016.
