PRINCETON, N.J. – The Lehigh men's track and field team traveled to Princeton this weekend for the annual two-day Larry Ellis Invitational. Sophomore Patrick Reilly and senior Sean Burke both met IC4A qualifying marks in Friday's 5,000 meter race.
Reilly powered the Mountain Hawks with a 12th place (14:35.64) finish out of 88 runners in the 5K, and Burke also turned in a strong race, setting a new PR with his 21st place showing (14:42.21).
Saturday's track events were bookended by the two relay events. The men's 4x100 relay started things off with Michael Camera, Christopher Del Rossi, Robert Iulo and Fritz Isaac combining for a 10th place overall time of 42.37 seconds, which finished them fourth in their heat. In the day's final event, James Clements, Del Rossi, Emre Soybas and Clay Stabolepszy combined on an 11th place overall finish of 3:20.19.
In the sprints, sophomore Jake Sabatini led Lehigh in 33rd place of the 100 meter dash (11.14). Del Rossi (39th/50.59) and Clements (40th/50.68) took part in the 400m dash.
In the mid-distance, Stabolepszy set a PR in the 800m run, which was good enough for third in his heat and 23rd overall in the field of 54 finishers. Junior Kyle Leonard used a new PR of 4:05.64 to lead the team in the 1500m, finishing in 29th out of 50. Not far behind was sophomore Christopher Mascetti in 31st place (4:06.95).
In the distance, junior Nicholas Hirdt made his collegiate debut in the 10K, 32:43.29.
In the field events, junior Daniel Boardman leapt 6.66 meters in the long jump, finishing 12th overall after taking third place in Flight 1. Boardman also competed in the high jump where he finished 13th overall (1.95m), six places behind teammate Adeolu Adesida, who cleared the bar in seventh (2.05m).
Lehigh will host the Lehigh Games next Friday-Saturday April 29-30 at the Goodman Campus Track, and will simultaneously compete at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia beginning on Thursday, Apr. 28.
