Lehigh Wraps Up Weekend at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team wrapped up a busy weekend on Sunday with day two of the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University. The meet was the second in as many days for Lehigh, which also sent several student-athletes to the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian on Saturday.
Saturday's 5K Invite saw Alexander Fitzgerald lead the way for Lehigh in 12th place (14:29.85), and Ryan Cooney in 17th (14:34.66), both hitting IC4A qualifying marks with their personal record performances.
Senior Sean Burke led the Mountain Hawks in the unseeded 5K in fifth place (PR-14:45.64), narrowly missing an IC4A mark by 0.64 seconds. Brian Arita (13th/14:53.93), Scott Mason (18th/14:56.87) and Kyle Leonard (38th/15:13.20) also set new personal high marks and Evan Ward finished 44th overall (15:15.86) in an event that had 112 finishers.
Also in the distance runs, Samuel Layding made his collegiate 10K debut by finishing 31st overall in 30:44.23.
In the 3,000m steeplechase, John Tolbert finished third in his heat, which placed him 18th overall (9:28.66). Henry Paul, who won the event at the Lafayette 7-Way three weeks ago, set a new PR in 24th place (9:35.35) and David Mugavero also set a new high mark in 45th place (9:58.26). Additionally, Patrick Reilly competed in the 1500 meter run Invite, setting a new PR in 52nd place.
On Sunday, Clay Stabolepszy was one of six Lehigh competitors in the 800 meter run, leading the way in 54th place (PR-1:55.82). James Chappell finished in 93rd place (1:58.21) and Christopher Mascetti took 97th (1:58.46) to both land in the top 100 of the large event. Andrew Culkin hurdled his way to a 25th place tally in the 400 meter hurdles.
Christopher Foley took part in the shot put for the second straight day, after setting a PR at Saturday's Greyhound Invitational. His toss on Sunday of 14.36 meters was good enough for 13th place in the field of 26 placers.
Lehigh will return to action next weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton.
