EASTON, Pa. - The Lehigh women's track and field team picked up 251 points to win the Lafayette 7-Way Invitational on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks grabbed seven wins at the meet from Tyler Scanlin, Ashley Strysko, Katie Hatler, Gabrielle Wardle, Kiana Wright, Amanda Youngblood, and Michaela Bubak. The Mountain Hawks also sent several athletes to compete on Friday at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.

"Overall we were solid," said head coach Matt Utesch. "It's always nice to get a win, but it's still early in the outdoor season and we need to see some faster times and better scores."

Lilaya Dickens (25.84) and Leah Ferguson (26.48) had strong sprints in the 200m dash, finishing second and third, respectively. The same duo also finished back to back in the 100m dash, with Ferguson finishing fifth and Dickens sixth.

Hanna Brosky and Kaitlyn Ruffing scored in the 400 dash with Brosky rounding out the top three in third place and Ruffing taking fourth.

Scanlin powered her way to a win in the 800m dash, besting the second place competitor by nearly 2.5 seconds, with Kristen Lavallee and Rachel Okun coming in third and fourth, respectively. The 1500 meter run saw Stephanie Hayes and Ann O'Connell combine for 10 points with their third and fourth place finishes.

Strysko rounded out the distance events with a victory in the 5K, setting a new career-best mark of 18:20.71. Jennifer Burke also set a new PR in the event (18:48.57) to finish fourth.

Hatler sped her way ahead of the field in the 100m hurdles, taking the top spot in 15.06 seconds. Wardle captured second place (15.34) and Noreen Byrne, making her collegiate outdoor debut on Saturday, finished in fifth place. Byrne highlighted her day by also competing in the 400 hurdles, where she took second place.

Bubak got the field events going on Friday by shattering her hammer throw PR by just over two meters, winning the event (49.29m) by nearly six meters over the next closest finisher, teammate Paige Grossman who set a new PR for the second straight week (43.57m).

When the events resumed on Saturday, Wardle captured the high jump (1.70m) in IC4A qualifying style and helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a clean sweep in the event as Courtney Avery, Olivia Reinold and Brittany Le Jouan all followed behind in second-through-fourth places, respectively.

Wright picked up another team win with a 5.18m leap in the long jump. She also finished third in the triple jump, finishing one spot behind Byrne's second place lunge (10.95m). Nia Baker (12.04m) and Sarah Cassidy (11.51m) landed in the top three of the shot put and Kaitlyn Toman collected points for her third place pole vault (3.10m).

Youngblood led the way in the discus (38.93m), with Bubak taking third place and Baker finishing fourth. Wardle continued Lehigh's strong field day with a second place javelin throw.

On Friday at the Raleigh Relays, Elizabeth Weiler turned in a 26th place finish out of 96 finishers in the 5K, crossing the line in 17:01.52. Maura Henderson also competed and finished in 56th (17:52.03). Marissa Karl set a new PR of 4:38.65 in 48th place of the 1500 meter run, followed by Hannah Leskow (4:42.83) in 71st and Laura Barnes (4:47.12) in 86th.

The Mountain Hawks will stay in the Lehigh Valley for their next meet on Saturday, April 2 at the Muhlenberg Invitational in Allentown.
