
Lehigh Grabs Three Wins at Philly College Classic

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lehigh women's track and field team earned three individual wins on Saturday at the Philadelphia College Classic, held at Penn's Franklin Field. Junior Kiana Wright won the triple jump, while freshman Nia Baker won the shot put and junior Michaela Bubak captured the hammer throw title.
Wright captured first place in the triple jump and was also the runner-up in the long jump. Her winning triple jump of 11.17 meters was 0.89 meters further than the next closest jumper. Her long jump of 5.35 meters was also a new outdoor personal record.
Baker also was victorious in her collegiate outdoor debut, as she bested the field of 12 throwers to win the shot put with a heave of 11.85 meters. Baker was also among four Mountain Hawks to compete in the discus, where sophomore Amanda Youngblood led the way for Lehigh in fifth place (39.70m). Baker followed in sixth while sophomore Paige Grossman took seventh and Bubak finished in eighth.
Bubak led the way in the hammer throw, winning the event with a toss that traveled 46.91 meters. Grossman also cracked the top three, setting a new personal best with her hammer throw of 43.23 to finish in third place.
Junior Melody Walthers, junior Meghan Reilly and senior Adriana Vukmanic were Lehigh's top placers in the javelin, placing sixth through eighth, respectively.
The team received contributions on the track as well from senior Arielle Weiner and sophomore Jennifer Burke, who both competed in the 3,000 meter run.
Lehigh will return to the track next Friday for the two-day Lafayette 7-Way Invitational in Easton, Pa.
