BETHLEHEM, Pa. - One day after being named to the All-Patriot League team, junior Jackie Renda has also been named an Academic All-League honoree, as announced on Thursday. Renda enjoyed a tremendous season on the field, while she owns a strong 3.60 grade point average in the classroom. Renda was one of 11 Patriot League student-athletes recognized on Thursday, and one of just five who were named All-League and Academic All-League.

Renda is enrolled in Lehigh's finance program, which was ranked in a June 10 USA Today article as the sixth top college for a degree in finance. The Roseland, New Jersey native has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every year so far. She cracked the Dean's List, for a semester GPA of 3.6 or higher, in three of her first four semesters at Lehigh and has garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award every year for a semester GPA of 3.2 or higher. Renda was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad in each of her first two years for tallying a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher during the fall semester.

On the field, Renda has been an integral part of the Mountain Hawks' midfield as someone who contributes at both ends of the field. She dished three assists this season, while tallying a defensive save. Renda and the defense allowed just 46 goals this season, the fewest goals Lehigh has allowed since allowing 45 in 2004. The Mountain Hawks allowed just 247 shots in 2016, fewest since 2007. The team's 140 shots on goal allowed were 20 fewer than any other season over the last 14 years.

Renda was part of a defensive effort which pitched three shutouts this season, two coming against Patriot League opponents (Holy Cross and Colgate). Those came in consecutive league games, marking the first time in school history Lehigh shut-out consecutive Patriot League opponents. Over consecutive games against Colgate and Towson, the Mountain Hawks outscored their opponents 11-0 and outshot them 50-9. Renda played in every game over her career and finished her career with eight career points (one goal, six assists).

Lehigh finished its season with five wins over its last eight games, highlighted by a four-game winning streak, marking its longest winning streak since 1986. The Mountain Hawks defeated eventual No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament Holy Cross, while staying alive in the race for the postseason right until the very end.
