BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's track and field team captured its third consecutive win over rival Lafayette on Monday evening with a 104-77 win at Rauch Fieldhouse. Junior Ryan Cooney captured a new personal best time to win the mile run, which helped him earn the honor of Lehigh's Track Athlete of the Meet. Junior Lucas Warning was named the Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the shot put at 17.37 meters, a distance just short of his own school record that he set last weekend. Overall the Mountain Hawks earned the maximum number of points possible in seven of the events on the men's side.

Cooney and Alexander Fitzgerald opened up the track events by taking the top two spots of the one mile run, where Cooney set a new personal best time of 4:16.81 to take home first place. Fitzgerald followed in second at 4:17.01.

In the sprints, Fritz Isaac led Lehigh to a victory in the 60m hurdles, breaking the tape in 8.48 seconds, just ahead of Trevor Knowles who crossed the line in second at 8.54. Michael Camera was Lehigh's highest finisher in the 60 meter dash, placing second to edge out Lafayette's Marcus Vilme by five thousandths of a second.

Christopher Del Rossi registered a pair of top two finishes on the day, highlighted by a 400 meter run victory of 51.44 seconds. He later took second place in the 200 meters, landing on the podium along with Jake Sabatini, who finished third.

James Clements paved the way to another Mountain Hawks win in the 500 meter run, outracing everyone to a 1:08.52 finish. Robert Smith raced his way into the top three in third place at 1:09.37.

Clay Stabolepszy raced to a second place tally (2:00.93) in the 800 meter race, placing back-to-back with teammate Mitchell Daddario (2:01.42).

James Chappell earned the maximum five points for his first place mark in the 1,000 meter run. Lehigh then stepped up to claim a sweep in the 3,000 meter run. Patrick Reilly (8:33.42), Samuel Layding (8:35.17) and Sean Burke (8:48.55) blew away the field en route to secure spots one-through-three.

Just like their female counterparts, the Lehigh men took care of both relays as Del Rossi, Clements, Tom Troxell and Smith finished first in the 4x400 relay in 3:30.47. Stabolepszy, Seamus Cullinane, Chappell and Christopher Mascetti then pulled away for an 8:11.30 victory in the 4x800 relay.

Fresh off his school record in the shot put, Warning turned in another impressive showing in the event on Monday, coming within four centimeters of his recently-set record as he won the event with a shot put of 17.37m. Freshman Alexander Rodgers came in at 13.71m, landing him in third place overall. Rodgers later led the Mountain Hawks with a fourth place finish in the weight throw (10.71m).

Knowles came out on top in the pole vault, finishing just two centimeters shy of a personal record, finishing at 4.72m. John Whitman and Tyler John helped make it a clean sweep for the Mountain Hawks, each vaulting 4.57 meters to come in just behind Knowles.

Michael Gooding led the way for Lehigh in the triple jump, lunging a team best 13.66 meters, which put him one spot better than Isaac (13.28m).

In the high jump, Lehigh secured the top three places with Daniel Boardman leading the way with a leap of exactly 2.00 meters. Ryan Givens followed suit in second place at 1.90m, and Knowles, who was simulatneously competing in the pole vault, tied an indoor PR in third place (1.85m).

Boardman once again led the way in the long jump by taking second place at 7.01 meters. Daniel Reichenbach leapt his way into the top three, placing one place behind Boardman with a jump of 6.68m.

Lehigh has a short week and returns to Rauch Fieldhouse this Saturday to host the annual John Covert Classic. The action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
