BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's and women's cross country teams each turned in first place performances at Friday's Lehigh Invitational cross country meet at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The men's team finished with a perfect score of 15 points to top La Salle 15-50 in the Division I portion of their race to capture their sixth consecutive title in the annual event. The Lehigh women brought home their third first-place finish in six seasons at the Invitational by scoring a total of 27 points to top Delaware (37 points) and La Salle (64 points). In the non-Division I portion, Muhlenberg captured both the men's and women's crowns, outracing fellow Division III opponents DeSales and Moravian.

Mountain Hawks' sophomore Patrick Reilly captured the individual title on the men's side, finshing the race in 18:33.90. On the women's side, Shannon Wright led the Mountain Hawks with a third place finish of 22:45.70. Overall, Lehigh's men placed eight runners in the top 10, and claimed 17 of the top 20 spots.

"Really pleased to see Pat Reilly, who's only a sophomore step up and be our top runner today," said men's head coach Todd Etters. "And it was great to see we had a pack not too far behind him. Overall to be able to control the whole race up front as a pack and really be able to push themselves, I thought they did a fantastic job of staying in the moment and really running hard," Etters said of his squad's performance.

"In general it's always good to have a win," said women's head coach Debbie Utesch. "We had specific race plans of when we were trying to run together and when we were willing to spread apart. I was glad to see some of the things they were told to do, they accomplished," she added.
